DAYSPRING MINISTRIES CELEBRATES PASTORAL, DEACON, AND CHAPLAIN ORDINATION
Sunday, February 11, 2007, was a special day at DaySpring Ministries. Not only did the church welcome its new members into church fellowship and celebrate communion, but we also celebrated the ordination of seven proven servants of God. It was truly a time of rejoicing with many guests participating in the service.
Dr. Clifford Ashe III, Senior Pastor for DaySpring Ministries explained the rigorous process each candidate went through before the ordination. A year of intensive study, long-term selfless service, and an examination by the Ordination Board preceded the Ordination Service.
District Pastor Gary Banks received his ordination as pastor. He has been a member of DaySpring for 14 years. He and his wife, Gloria, are the parents of Sabrina Joan, Tyreek Alexander, and Karina Elizabeth. Pastor Banks’ goal is “to pastor an existing or established church.”
District Pastor Francis Offei also received his ordination as pastor. He has been a member of DaySpring for 13 years. He and his wife, Dawn, are the parents of Chawn and Derek. Pastor Offei’s goal is to pastor a new church.
Willie Somerset and his wife, Audrey, have been members of DaySpring for five years. His goal as a deacon is “to live like Christ and to serve like Christ.”
Derrick Talbert has been a member of DaySpring for nine years. He and his wife, Jeannie, are the parents of Idalia and Darrius Bernard. Derrick’s goal is “to serve God faithfully and to continue on the path that God has planned for him.”
John Treacy and his wife, Maureen, have been members of DaySpring for three years. John’s goal as a deacon is “to go deeper in his study of the Word of God and continue to develop and refine his spiritual gifts.”
Darryl Williams has been a member of DaySpring for nine years. He and his wife, Rose, are the parents of Chandajire Blackmon and Tamara Williams. Darryl’s goal as deacon is “to diligently serve God, his pastor, and the church in bringing people to healing.”
Glenn Walker has been a member of DaySpring for 10 years. He and his wife, Pam, are the parents of Glenn Jr., Shelby Drayton, and Candace Drayton. Glenn is the first ordained chaplain for DaySpring. His goal as chaplain is to “take the church out of the church and into the nursing homes and community.”
